Keep Your Eyes on Where You're Headed

“You’ve got to keep your eyes looking toward where you’re going”, some words that I said to a child I was working with as we began to descend the stairs. It was one of those daily mundane moments that was different this time as it provided an internal spiritual teaching moment. It is so easy to get distracted by the noise of the world around us. Social media, TV/radio, the hustle and bustle of to-do lists and schedules, jobs, and even our family and friends can cause us to lose track of where we are headed and what we need to do to get there. So how do we keep our sight not on earthly things but on things above (Col. 3:1)? When we make God the most important thing in our lives- our thoughts, words, and actions will follow. This isn’t easy. It takes sacrifice, intentionality, and stepping out of our comfort zones. It requires looking and being completely different than the world around us (Romans 12:2, John 15:18).
